About the Artist
About the ArtistFor as long as I can remember my passion has been to create art. Painting and drawing come naturally to me and over the years I have studied and practiced to hone my talent.I am from Massachusetts, USA. I had a 10-year career in retail management and merchandising, which took me to New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and Florida. In 1984, I moved to the Caribbean. I worked in St. Maarten at Pelican Resort as an OPC Marketing Manager for 10 years. In 1995, Hurricane Luis changed the lives of many on the island. I decided to focus solely on my art. I took art classes with well-known local St. Maarten artist, Ruby Bute. She got me interested in painting with pastels. I attended intensive week-long workshops in the US to improve my skills in pastel and watercolors.In 1998, I began painting professionally. I painted a series of 25 different St. Maarten scenes that were the perfect item to take away from a vacation. Shipwreck Shops, Camaieu Gallery, Greenwith Gallery, Goodcards, St Geran Gallery, and others sold my prints.I also sold many original pieces in watercolor, acrylic and pastel at various venues and exhibits, and I have a permanent exhibit at the Windward Islands Bank in St Maarten Simpson Bay branch.In 2008, I moved to Victoria BC, Canada. I am excited to paint the beauty of the new scenery around me.Currently I am working in pastels on sanded paper. I am looking forward to a new chapter in my art career in Canada..
